so far用法问题

如: There has been no comment so far from police about the allegations. 为什么so far总要和from连着用，so far它可以单独放句首，句尾，或者be后面吗？

      【答】so far 并非总要和from连着用。

       so far 的作用相当于副词，意思是“到目前为止”、“到那个程度”， 表示前一个意思时，谓语动词通常用现在完成时，有时也可以用其它时态。如：

       We have not met (with) any accident so far. 到目前为止我们还没有碰上过事故。（摘自《英汉多功能词典》新编升级版p.598）

       You needn't say so far. 你不需要说那么多。（同上）
